Ernest Davis is professor of computer science at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, New York University. His research focuses on commonsense reasoning for artificial intelligence, particularly spatial and physical reasoning. He is the author of four books, including the textbook Representations of Commonsense Knowledge.

Meta’s new AI, called Cicero, is able to successfully strategize and negotiate with humans in playing the game Diplomacy, and it may have the potential to surpass other AI that play games such as Go and chess.
