The best way to shape the relationship between humans and AI is to help AI users become more AI literate, interact with AI systems more effectively, and give them a greater say in the design and implementation of these systems, argues computational linguist Janna Lipenkova.

Explaining AI, building trust, and augmenting the human user

On May 14th, I had the pleasure of presenting at ProductTank in Paris. I talked about the ways in which artificial intelligence (AI) is shaking up how people work with software, and I also had a lively discussion with the audience that crystallized a key theme: When implementing AI initiatives, one must support AI users to become more proactive and knowledgeable in their interaction with AI systems, ultimately contributing to their designs.
